Question by Jerich M: Can I buy the European version of the Samsung Galaxy TAB to work on verizon?
I was searching the other day for a new Smart Phone and I want and need something with a bigger screen (Bad eyes) and stumbled across the Samsung Galaxy TAB but it appears they do not let you simply make phone calls unless over VOiP but the European models do. I dont mind holding a 7″ screen to my face to talk on the phone. Anyone already done this?

Europe uses GSM technology (like AT&T, T-mobile), while Verizon uses CDMA, which doesn’t use a sim card like the GSM technology. You could not use a European Galaxy tab on Verizon, but there is a chance that you could modify it to work on one of the GSM networks. (no guarentees though). You will probably have to do a lot of searching in the android tablet forums for help finding out if this is possible. Also, the European ones cost up to twice as much as here, although hopefully the price will start to go down as the newer android os is introduced and more tablets come out. Personally, I wish they had left the calling intact here in the US too.
