Question by : Is the samsung galaxy s i9000 as good as an iphone?
Okay well, I really want to get an iphone, but I would have to save up. But I was playing with the samsung galaxy today and the camera is soooo goooood. And I would love to get the samsung camera for its great camera and also because it is cheaper than the iphone. But the iphone looks like it has better apps. How much does the samsung galaxy s i9000 cost? Would I be better off getting something else?
Thanks.

What do you think? Answer below!
Don’t be an idiot like the first guy, Iphone costs twice as much to where it not even technologically advanced….& Retina display on a small 3.5 screen is way over blown. Either get the Galaxy S or wait & see if next years Iphone is worth buying…so far the Iphone 4 is a dud. Im neutral when it comes to making this pick. i’ve owned an Iphone 3gs 32gb & it was “ok” nothing spectacular & the Iphone 4 is not much of an improvement in my point of view especially when the video chat only works on Wifi. Galaxy S has a darker black regarding the screen making colors pop out much more vibrant & its HD video recorder is amazing.
Go for the Galaxy S (since I’m not an Apple fan), in my opinion it’s much better than the Iphone; you’ll love the Super-AMOLED screen in the galaxy that’s far better than the Retina display on the Iphone, & the camera is very nice too, you also can hold anyway you want XD, as for tha apps I expect that the Samsung app store will be improved..
…but if you need to download alot of apps go for the Iphone !!
I think the Samsung Galaxy S i9000 is a GOOD ALTERNATIVE to the iPhone 4. The Samsung Galaxy S gives you access to the android market, where it has thousands of apps. A large number of them is free and new apps are added regularly! The apps are extremely easy and quick to install (and uninstall).
I also own an iPhone. Personally, I prefer the apps for the android.
The Galaxy S’ camera and video quality is awesome. The AMOLED screen is bright and colourful when watching videos. The phone supports 5.1 channels via wired headphones. Another thing is that you can connect the Galaxy S to a TV and use that as your screen! (cable not supplied) Think about running the apps and showing your captured videos/photos on the big screen!
And yeah, if it also saves you money go for it!

Iphone4 uses Samsung’s ARM Cortex-A8 processor called S5PC110A01(AKA Hummingbird); A4 and S5PC110A01 both are identical and manufactured by Samsung. Also Samsung’s flash memory is used on Iphone4 as well. In other words, Iphone4 is based on the Galaxy S platform.
There are several reasons why Galaxy S has better appeals than Iphone4.
1. SAMOLED Screen: 20% brighter, 80% less sunlight reflection, and 20% more battery life…therefore better picture quality; Iphone4 has slightly more pixels but Galaxy S is 5~6 milimeters wider screen…but does pixels and wider screens really matter on small cell phones?
2. Iphone4 has the issue with reception; mistakenly covering the antenna while holding the phone can cause drop-calls. WTF? You serious????
3. Iphone4 needs internal operation for replacement of battery(it’s glued to motherboard).
4. Galaxy S has more space for removable memory storage(upto 32GB) while Iphone4 has only 28.77GB of internal memory(iOS uses up 5~6 GB).
5. Samsung Galaxy S appears to be better with WAP 2.0/xHTML and Flash support. IPhone4 has only HTML
6. Even though they both use same Samsung CPU, Galaxy S has the fastest graphic card which blows every cell phones out of water. There are no other phones can compete with Galaxy S in terms of gaming.
7. Galaxy S supports MKV, OGG, FLAC, DIVX, RM, etc video formats!; it’s built to kill IPhone4……….
I was using iphone 3g, but I have not tried out iphone 4, so I can’t comment on it.
I got Galaxy S for two days and absolutely love it. I wish it has a frontal camera for video chat. I guess I have to shop for another phone with the frontal camera soon.
The reason that I got the Galaxy S was that Costco offered it for $250 with no contract via Even More Plus plan on T-Mobile. It was such a good deal that I could not pass up.
The Galaxy S specifically the AT&T Captivate can be had for $0 with 2 years contract at one of the 2 big online cellphone reseller site or $230 if you are an existing AT&T customer (look it up at Slickdeals). For that price I think it is as good as an iPhone.
Having said that, reviewers yawn over the lack of zest with the Android GUI. Plus it is reported that Galaxy S could have the weak same signal reception issue as the iPhone 4. Here is the video showing the way to hold the Galaxy S that can reproduce the issue. So until there is clarity with the reception issue, I will advise you to wait.
